The History Of Somnath Jyotirlinga And Temple

Somnath Jyotirlinga was established at Mahadev Dwar to free Chandradev from the curse. Prajapati Daksha who was the ruler of the earth cursed Chandradev because Chandradev was married to 27 daughters of Prajapati Daksha but Chandradev only love Rohini.

Loved him, he was not acceptable to Prajapati Daksha, so he curse Chandradev to decay. So Chandradev made an earthly Shivling of Mahadev and worshiped it and Mahadev gave darshan to Chandradev and free Chandradev from the curse of Prajapati Daksha.

Hence Mahadev is also called Chandrashekhar. Where Chandradev had built the earthly Shivling of Mahadev, it is now known as Somnath Mahadev Jyotirlinga. Only those who see it can get rid of the sins of the entire life, it is the Devo ke Dev Mahadev.

The existence of Somnath temple is considered to have happened in the medieval era around 1900 to 2000 years ago.Is. In the year 649, King Maitrak of Vallabhbhi dynasty of Gujarat destroyed the temple for the first time and built another temple in its place.Along with the fall of the Vallabhbhai Empire around A.D. 755, the Arab invasion led to the fall of Somnath.

After that Pratihar Raja Nagabhatta built the temple for the third time with the help of Lal Pathar.AD In 1024 Mahamanad Ghaznavi cut the Shivlinga of Somantha temple into pieces and he took a piece of it with him to Afghanistan and He placed a piece of Shivlinga at the entrance to his kingdom, and people walked over it to wipe their feet and thus insulted the Shivlinga.

Then in AD 1024 to A.D. In 1026 King Bhimdev Solankai of the Solanki dynasty built the temple for the fourth time.Then in AD In 1277, Aladin Khilji's general Lukhkha dismembered the Shivlinga..Iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 13th November 1947 took the temple reconstruction caravan pledge..Ironman Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 13th November 1947 took the temple reconstruction caravan pledge.

Thus, in 1951, the 7th phase of reconstruction work, Somnath is considered as the symbol of reconstruction.
