Where Is Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga ?

Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is located in the Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh state of India.

The glory of Mahakaleshwar is immense. All sorrows go away by reciting the name of Mahakaleshwar.

In Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, Mahadev is known as Mahakal because Mahadev appeared after tearing the earth after listening to the call of the devotee.

Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is established by Lord Shiva after killing a demon named Dushan.

The History Of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga:

According to Shiv Puran, there was an ardent devotee of Mahadev in Avanti or he used to worship Mahadev daily by making a mortal Shivling of Mahadev. But one day Dushan the salt monster stopped all the brahmins from worshiping or performing Yagya and did not allow him to perform daily worship, so all the devotees together warned Dushan, but Dushan was still creating terror. All the devotees together prayed to Mahadev to free us from the menace of contamination.

 After listening to the prayers of all the devotees, Mahadev appeared after tearing the earth and put an end to the salt monster. And on the wishes of all the devotees, Mahadev sat there, hence this place is known as Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga.
