THE STORY Of NAGESHVAR JYOTIRLINGA

Nageshvar Temple also known as Nagnath Mahadev Temple is located in Dwarka district of Gujarat, it is a Hindu Shiva temple and 12 jyotirlinga of one jyotirlinga is Nageshvar Mahadev temple.

There are 2 jyotirlings in Gujarat, First of Somnath, the Second jyotirlinga of Nagesvar, and you have studied the details of Nagesvar at Somnath.

Meaning:

Nageshvar means Lord of Snakes and Nageshvar Jyotirlinga It is the eighth Jyotirlinga on earth.

History of Nageshvar Jyotirlinga:

According to Shiva Katha, the information that is difficult to obtain is Nageshvar or Darukavan which is the name of a forest.

He asked for a boon from Goddess Parvati that "Devi forest has a lot of herbs, so give me this boon that I can take the forest to the people where the herbs are needed." And the mother blessed him for doing good deeds.

Then it happened that a Shiva devotee named Supriya and another person were tied and kept in Darukavan.

This forest was of Nag and Daruka     their ownership. Then, on the request of Supriya, everyone chanted the good deeds of Shiva and Bholanath appeared  Destroy those demons and there Jyotirlinga you and Daruka rakshashi's sister wish that the name of this van was the serpent's van so Nageshwar came to keep it.
