Story of Rameshwaram Temple

There are two main ancient stories about the existence of Rameswaram Jyotirlinga. whose story:
Rameshwaram Mahdev Jyotirlinga It Is The Eleventh Jyotirlinga On Earth.

First story of Rameswaram Jyotirlinga

The beginning of this story is when mother Sita is abducted and goes to Lanka. While wandering in the forest in search of mother Sita, she saw a wounded bird lying there, asking her. When he saw Mother Sita, he told him that Lankapati Ravana had taken Mother Sita to the southern direction. So taking care of this, Lord Rama, his younger brother Lakshmana and General Hanumanji walked south from Tamil Nadu. Jai stopped at Rameshwar and from there the sea was moving to reach Sri Lanka. Rama stayed there and worshiped Lord Shiva there. After Lord Rama worshiped Lord Shiva, he left taking water. One day he went to collect water without performing the puja, then he remembered that he had forgotten while doing the puja. There he made a Shivlinga and worshiped Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was pleased to see the sincerity of Shri Ram. When Kahiu brought the boon, Lord Ram said, I am going to wage war, may I win, you should live in this Shivlinga. The suffering of the people of the state only by seeing you will be removed, for this Lord Shiva resides in the Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga even today. Devotees go to see Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva.

Second story of Rameswaram Jyotirlinga

In the second story, when Lord Shri Ram took Mother Sita to India after the end of the war, it was Gandhi Madan. While resting on the mountain, the local monk came to know that Lord Shri Ram was resting here. Sadhu reached there to have darshan of Lord Sri Ram and returned back said, O Sadhu, you have killed a Brahmin that too of Pulatsya clan. According to the advice of the monk, when you have sinned with yourself, make a Shivlinga of Lord Shiva and worship him there. He was pleased and asked to ask for a boon. Lord Shri Ram said that you should live here. So this way this is another story, but for now, I respect this story as much as the other story. In this way the Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva was established.
